Lens-Artists Challenge #95: All Wet

This week’s Lens-Artists Challenge features the theme of All Wet, and from our home in Knoxville (where we are still sheltering in place), a spring rain brought just what we needed for the challenge: gentle drops on tender new blossoms — all in our neighborhood.

“Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.”

New hostas look dressed up with droplets of water at rest on their leaves.

And a contrast to the greens is a vivid red, full-blooming knock-out rose, washed by the showers.

Add in the purples — bold or soft — for more contrast brought on by clematis climbing upward and tripping over themselves as they clamor for space on mailboxes and light posts.

But don’t forget to notice — small buds, open blooms, and “clingy” family groupings of delicate, pale pink knock-out roses.

And the smallest of flowers — pale lavender vinca.

Because “happiness comes in waves,” take note of flowers that aren’t quite flowers yet: a wrapped and cuddled Southern Magnolia bud . . .

or tiny start-ups of hydrangeas yet to burst open with their soft blues.

Spring rain is nature’s prettiest cry.

    Absolutely gorgeous. Hostas and water are a great combination but the roses, sigh, I look forward to spring as we rush into winter at the bottom of the world. Hoe you’re free to travel again soon.

      I do, too! Been thinking if short trips if no long ones pan out. This past weekend we drive the Foothills Parkway, the only part of Great Smoky Mountains that’s open. It was lovely, but crowded. Many pent-up folks anxious to see the great outdoors!!

        And here too. We’re supposed to be in the South Island right now enjoying a different great outdoors to what we have here but isolation has meant we can’t. We’re still asked to stay local and a drive to the supermarket is our big adventure. But we can plan đŸ™‚

    Gorgeous images Rusha – our magnolias have been blooming now for a week or two. I love them, they’re so beautiful. But oh what a mess they leave behind when their time is done! Your droplet images are superb

      I feel a bit more free to roam now, but I’m still staying in my neighborhood most days. Just not sure what’s out there, and I don’t need much! Maybe the pandemic has changed the way I do things after all.
