Over the past few years, we’ve stood on some pretty impressive spots. And, when we remember to look down, we’ve seen some mighty remarkable floors, stairwells, porches, etc. Here are a few surfaces that we’re proud to say have recently been beneath our humble feet.
Pittock Mansion, home of The Oregonian publisher, Henry Pittock and his wife Georgiana (Portland, Oregon)
Ca’ d’Zan at The Ringling, home of circus owner John Ringling and his wife Mable (Sarasota, Florida)
State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg, Russia)

You go to the most interesting places! I do love that wood floor. So creative!
Oh, the Places We See
Thanks so much. In 200 years, I wonder if someone will comment on our laminate wood floors that so many people are using now. There’s just no comparison to that intricate parquet!

You’ve certainly visited some very elegant places. Beautiful flooring. 🙂
Oh, the Places We See
We’ve been fortunate. A younger couple might not be interested in old homes, but it’s right up our alley!!! Thanks for taking a look.

Oh, the Places We See
Thanks so much. I love old houses. Especially the ones that the rich folks built!! 🙂

They certainly know how to “do it up”! 🙂

You are right about taking the time to look down. We spend so much time looking on the horizon when so much detail is right at our feet. Great photos.
Oh, the Places We See
Thanks for taking a look. I love touring historic homes. And not many of them allow pics, so I felt privileged just to be able to take these.

I love your themed posts Rusha. They’re fun, creative, and a chance to let the mind wander. ~James
Oh, the Places We See
Thanks. I’m toying with the idea of giving them up, though, since they rarely follow my train of thought with dome of my series. I’ve noticed that you don’t participate in the challenges, and yours is one of my fave blogs. Guess it doesn’t matter as long as it’s fun. Or at least that’s what Bert keeps telling me!

Rusha, you’re right that we don’t do challenges. It’s not that we don’t like them, it’s just that I really enjoy going through our photos and coming up with a theme to tie them together. And Bert’s right, it’s all about having fun. When blogging stops being fun, we’ll hang it up. ~James

I love the variety of all these floors. They’re so cool.
Oh, the Places We See
Thanks, Amy. We love looking at furnishings, structures, etc. in old homes. Sometimes (well, most of the time) the craftsmanship astounds us!
