So, here we are. Big Orange Fans. Delighted that the University of Tennessee Vols made it to the TaxSlayer Bowl on January 2nd, 2015, in Jacksonville, Florida and beat the Iowa Hawkeyes 45 to 28. Go Vols!
But in our usual “let’s-see-what-else-we-can-see-along-the way” mode, we decided to cruise the coast a bit from Tybee Island down to St. Augustine and then over to Amelia Island stopping in Jekyll and St. Simons along the way. After all, getting there is half the fun, right?
So, join us on our brief but jam-packed tour before and after the bowl. We’re calling the series “Coasting” — ’cause that’s what we did. Cruised the coast with eyes wide open. It’s a series you don’t want to miss.

It’s a sea of orange at the TaxSlayer Bowl where Tennessee defeated Iowa 45 to 28 — first win in a bowl game in seven years!

Why the name TaxSlayer?
Oh, the Places We See
Great question! This was once called the Gator Bowl, but the TaxSlayer company (a tax preparation software company) now sponsors it and the name was changed. We thought it sounded odd, too! Here’s the link to their company website: http://www.taxslayerbowl.com/

Peggy was with you on rooting for the Vols. I had the pleasure of rooting for the Ducks, up until Ohio. 🙁
Oh, the Places We See
I like Peggy already! And for the championship — we were rooting for the Ducks, too. Just to no avail. I blame it on those all-white uniforms. Ugghh.

Needed more green, eh? 🙂

Reminded the color of UT Austin 🙂
Oh, the Places We See
There are several oranges out there, for sure. Tennessee folks are particular about their shade of the bright color — and we’re forced to look for just the right orange before purchasing any clothing! Just part of the patron business, I suppose! (Thank goodness I look good in orange!)
