The Tybee Island Lighthouse on the Georgia coast stands tall as an enduring beacon of light for seagoing vessels. Starkly simplistic in design, the lighthouse is known for its bands of black and white which have recently been painted as a part of the ongoing efforts to preserve this iconic landmark. With its minimal adornments and classic windows, shutters, and roofline for the attached museum, this classy lighthouse represents all that we hope historic preservation in America can be.

We noticed the sea turtle art, but won’t buy any until we purchase our beach house with our lottery winnings! 🙂 The lighthouse was delightful as were the volunteers and rangers on site — so much pride and rightfully so with this renovation. Thanks for taking a look.
