Discover Prompt 16: Slow day at Kiawah

Even at sunrise you can tell if it’s going to be a day packed with touring, photography, events. Or if it’s just a day to relax. And the verdict? Slow down at the beach at Kiawah Island, South Carolina.

First things first: a blue rental umbrella, wooden beach chairs and a focus on the sea.

Ride up and down the beach on a rental bike? Naaaahhhhh.

It didn’t take much effort on our part to sit and watch people go by . . . like this boy skipping puddles on the wide, open spaces.

About the most exciting thing that happened all day was the afternoon drive-by of the ice cream man — well, ice cream lady, in this case — playing that cheesy music and stopping when anyone had enough change on them for something cold on a stick.

Why spoil a day like today with an active plan for the evening? We just cruised right over to Ocean Course, found two rocking chairs, and watched the sun go down from the porch.

Just another slow day at Kiawah.

Take it easy out there,

We sat on that beach the whole day!! Drinks and lunch in our cooler, and books in our hands. Haven’t spent a day like that since!!! Thanks for looking. It’s really a pretty beach.

Thanks so much. It’s easy taking pictures of a beautiful beach, especially if your camera is right beside your beach chair. Ah, two days of the good life!!! And I’d love a return trip. Thanks for relaxing with me for a minute today.

    1. Oh, the Places We See

We’ve got lots of slow days at home right now with the quarantine. In fact, too slow. It’s interesting how when you are fast-paced with work and family a slow day is terribly desirable. But right now, I could do with a little action! Thanks for taking a look. Stay safe out there.

Kiawah is so beautiful!! I have only been there once. My husband lived there some years ago and loved it! He still has a lot there but not sure If we are going to retire there or somewhere else in the Carolinas!!! It is a great place to relax and slow down!!!

Thanks for commenting. We stopped at Kiawah for a couple of days after our annual week at nearby Pawleys Island. I’m so glad we did. The beach is unspoiled and vast. And the relaxation is there for the taking. I hope you get back soon to enjoy. Stay safe out there.

Our are pretty slow right now as well. In fact, too slow. We started our quarantine with a resolve to pare down and clean out. But now, we’re sort of settled in and far less productive. It’s not a bad life. It’s just not the fast-paced one I’m accustomed to. Please stay safe out there. And know that I appreciate your comment very much.

So glad you asked. I’m going to make a change to this post now. It’s in South Carolina, not far from Charleston. We vacation in Pawleys Island and decided to extend a couple of days to relax in Kiawah. So glad we did. It’s beautiful!
