There’s nothing dark and mysterious in the medina of Marrakech, especially if you’re in the apparel section. Shoe stalls literally screamed color.
Cramming hand-made leather slippers onto the walls of tiny nooks must take patience and skill, but every shoe stall was packed to overflowing.

From pom-poms to fancy stitches to pointy toes, the shoes of Marrakech were not to be denied. And yellow ones took center stage in many displays. My favorite: the ones made of cut-up rugs, or at least that what they looked like to me! But all were picture-worthy (if you could get permission to snap away)!

Rusha, I remember the Marrakech shoe shops well, and have a funny story to go with it. You know how assertive these shop owners can be. I was in one shop, not particularly interested in shoes, but just killing time waiting on Terri. I made the mistake of picking up one of the pairs of shoes, and this little guy latched onto me and wouldn’t relent. I tried walking out of the shop and he was sticking shoes under my arms, in my pockets, etc. He was so funny and nice that I finally relented and bought one of those pairs of pointy-toed slippers. Later in the hotel, I actually tried them on, and one was a size 12, which fit, and the other was a about a size 8. Terri and I both still laugh about this pair of slippers. I hope your shoes were both the same size. 🙂 ~James

What a great anecdote!!! We can identify with the guy latching onto you — I’m not sure how low they would go on price, but most would take about half to 3/4ths of what they originally had said the price would be. As to the shoes, both of our fit, but it takes a bit of getting used to the fact that they slide, and you have to grip those slippers to keep them on. Having said that, it must not be too hard to do. EVERYONE (well, almost) had them on their feet!!

Thanks so much. We, too, were smitten with all the booths we saw inside and out of the medina with rows upon rows of shoes. Most were arranged thoughtfully with like embellishments or like colors. So fun to take in!

like the colors and the pointy toes – and for me – I would probably buy a pair of the classic yellow (plain ones in bottom picture) because they would be so different from what I wear – and I think it would be fun –
