As we stood with our tour group in Cinque Terre to listen to our guide, we couldn’t help but notice other lines in the landscape. From clotheslines holding towels on colorful balconies . . .

You’re so right, Amy. We were there on a busy touring day in the hot, blazing sun. I envied those who were renting some of the little homes for a few days. I’d love to do that so I could integrate myself into the culture and look out the door at that gorgeous scenery every day!

Although Cinque Terre is almost overrun with tourists, it’s easy to see why so many of us want to go there. The charm of those clustered buildings right next to a blue, blue sea just begs you to take pictures and memories back home!! Hope you get there.

I’ve really taken to photographing doors and shutters lately. Love looking at these humble but necessary openings and wondering who goes in and out, who enjoys the view, etc. Shutters — even the ones in disrepair — are almost art in and of themselves!

We loved those boats and umbrellas, too. In fact, we ate at a restaurant right beside those umbrellas and watched as people swam, toweled off, shared picnics, etc. Just like we do at home!!!

I don’t know that I have a knack for seeing things well. I just take lots of photos. Later, I edit, pitch some out, etc. But I love these photo challenges. They force me to look through my old pictures for something new. Best wishes to you for finding new things to photograph each day!

Thanks for the compliment! We took a one-day tour, focusing mostly on Manarola, the one town you see on most postcards. But then a train took us to the beach town with the umbrellas (can’t remember the name of that one) and into town to see the churches. Would love to go again when it’s not 105 degrees!!! Hope spring is good for you.
