A reflection at the waterfront in Castine, Maine offers a glimpse of morning light on still water.
Sometimes a telephoto lens gives you just a peek of the bigger picture. And that’s what I saw from Acadia Dock at Castine — a reflection in still waters right before sunrise. Just a glimpse of the whole, of course. The big picture opened up a whole new vista: a dock washed in early-morning pinks that would later fade away to bright sun. But, oh, what a peek to start the day!

Almost sunrise at the waterfront: Castine, Maine.

Great pics that show the area!
Oh, the Places We See
Thanks so much for your comment. We’d love to return to Maine — so much to see. And you can never get too many harbor pictures — I suppose! Best wishes for a very Happy Thanksgiving!

My Basset Hound, Socrates, once went to live in Winterport, just up the river from Castine, while I was off wandering through the South Pacific and Asia for a year. Early morning shots are always a delight. Thanks, Rusha. –Curt
Oh, the Places We See
That basset hound is one lucky dog. Winterport is a pretty place, and not crawling with all of us tourists! Standing on the dock in the early morning air waiting for sunrise will always be one of my fondest memories of this month in Castine. Would gladly do it all over again! Thanks for the comments.

We had a lot of stories about Socrates taking over the town. He’d wander off and stand in front of the grocery store or the Post Office to greet people coming out. 🙂
