When you ride through a new country, sometimes the only pictures you take are either blurry landscapes flashing before your eyes or architectural details atop buildings you see briefly seen from a back seat. And in Romania, you can get a crick in your neck looking up at the some of the best toppers in the world.

Prejmer fortified church is for sure a great site. We actually visited it for the first time this year. And only 10 km away there is another beautiful one, called Harman.

I’m back to blogging and posting and responding to comments again. Thanks for your patience with me. Had to take a long break, but think I’m ready to put toes into water again. Would love to return to Romania, but may never get back. There’s so much to see in this world, and I’m not getting younger. Thanks for your posts — they keep me connected to beautiful Romania!

Romania is a country in transition. If you visit, you will see remnants of Communist housing and dilapidated buildings, but you’ll also see beauty and freshness in many buildings, homes, and schools. The people are the real story — resilient and positive. Or at least that’s the way we found them. We went to rehab a school in Bucharest through Habitat Global Village, but we fell in love with so much in the city and the countryside. Here’s hoping you’ll get a chance to go there!

See? I love architecture, so I’m always looking up at buildings in cities. Of course, most people are people watchers, traffic watchers, even bird watchers. I’m looking at steeples!

Of course, there’s a down side to doing that: you could stumble and take a nasty fall! Might be worth it, though. I love the things up top!
