Two towers adorn a Bucharest church.
When you ride through a new country, sometimes the only pictures you take are either blurry landscapes flashing before your eyes or architectural details atop buildings you see briefly seen from a back seat. And in Romania, you can get a crick in your neck looking up at the some of the best toppers in the world.

A stately bell tower sits atop Sinai Monastery Old Church in Romania.

Looking up at the top of Prejmer fortified church in Transylvania, Romania.

Classy Romanian wooden steeple.

Beautiful!
Thanks so much. I couldn’t agree more. And another reason to look up in Bucharest — tagging (graffiti) was all over most of the buildings at eye level!
That’s a shame. I love artistic graffiti, such as in Valparaiso, but tagging is just vandalism.
I have been hearing a lot of wonderful things about Romania recently. Your photos definitely add to that positive theme.
Romania is a country in transition. If you visit, you will see remnants of Communist housing and dilapidated buildings, but you’ll also see beauty and freshness in many buildings, homes, and schools. The people are the real story — resilient and positive. Or at least that’s the way we found them. We went to rehab a school in Bucharest through Habitat Global Village, but we fell in love with so much in the city and the countryside. Here’s hoping you’ll get a chance to go there!
Fantastic pictures. That’s a place to go. Thanks.
It was definitely a great country to visit!
Always fascinating, Rusha, what people do with their tops. Take one basic steeple and turn your imagination loose! –Curt
See? I love architecture, so I’m always looking up at buildings in cities. Of course, most people are people watchers, traffic watchers, even bird watchers. I’m looking at steeples!
Confess I like out as well as up, but I always try to look up, realizing that treats are going to be in store, whether its a tree, a mountain or a building. –Curt
I should remember to look up more often instead of staring at the ground in front of me.
Of course, there’s a down side to doing that: you could stumble and take a nasty fall! Might be worth it, though. I love the things up top!

Stunning photos, especially enjoy the variety of the structures. Looks like amazing weather.
You’re so right — they are wonderful look ups! And I wish I could hear some of those bells. Maybe they ring them on a Sunday morning? weddings? crownings? Thanks for taking a look!
Wonderful look ups in Romania! I never made it to Romania, but I’m sure it’s worth a visit. The bell towers are amazing.
