Weekly Photo Challenge: Containers

Box of watermellons, SC

Waist-high boxes hold thumpin’ good watermelons from fields near Columbia, SC.

Good stuff doesn’t just pour in at South Carolina’s State Farmers Market in Columbia.  It ‘s hauled in — in boxes, crates, cartons, baskets, truck beds, trailers — well, you name it.  Just about anything that can contain ‘maters, melons, and mighty fine pickin’s is pressed into service to get the goods to the customers and show ’em off at the market.  Containers, you see, form the framework for South Carolina’s finest — from field to market to home.

I guess I could have just used that one last picture and no others, but we had so much fun looking at all the veggies and boxes and then coming upon that baby. So we just put all the pics in together! Thanks for reading through til the end.

We do, too! It’s so great to get fresh produce all summer long in the South, and we try to go as often as possible. I sometimes wish I liked canning and freezing more to prolong the great food all year long. Thanks for reading.

The baby was definitely the best part of the trip. The parents were proud, the baby was adorable, and the container was unexpected. Over the top!
