Lens-Artists Photo Challenge #153: Wonderful World

Camels waiting for caravan time, Sahara Desert, Morocco

Beauty is the illumination of your soul.

John O’Donahue

Beginning with a reference to Louis Armstrong’s song “It’s a Wonderful World,” Amy introduced the 153rd Lens-Artists Photo Challenge with the theme of Wonderful World. And indeed what a wonder our world is!

No matter your country, your experience, your age, or your vantage point, you have probably seen and felt the awesome beauty of the world all around you.

From the foreign intrigue we feel as we travel to unknown lands . . .

Sunrise, Sahara Desert, Morocco
Early morning rays of sun intensify the landscape of the Sahara Desert in Morocco.

to the beauty we see when we’re all alone.

Huntington Beach State Park, S. Carolina
Standing on the precipice of another day in paradise, a great blue heron studies the landscape of his beautiful world at Huntington Beach State Park in South Carolina.

We delight in seeing man’s built environment snugging up to the beauty that only a higher being can create.

Lake Como and Varenna at night

Early evening lights define the path around Varenna, Italy, as tourists and residents head for home.

It could be that we don’t even sense the wondrous world in which we live until we’re alone in its grandeur searching for answers only known to the universe.

Lone boat at Halong Bay, Vietnam
A lone junk heads back to the floating village in Halong Bay, Vietnam.

But we greet the day — and vow to keep the wonder in it.

After all, it is we who recognize — and sometimes make — the wonder of it all.

    1. Oh, the Places We See

We’ve been fortunate to see a lot of places, but there’s always more on our bucket list. Like Canada. We’ve only been to Nova Scotia and Vancouver. Time to see more. Would love a rail trip across the country.

Great post and the photographs are so well captioned. You’ve made me feel guilty that I don’t appreciate more what is all around me. I promise, I’ll try harder!

    1. Oh, the Places We See

You’ll never convince me you aren’t appreciative. All photographers and writers seen, at least, to focus more closely on what the gems of life are. You’re no exception. Carry on. And enjoy today. Thanks for reading!!

Beautiful photo selections from your travels, Rusha. It’s a wonderful world! I love the Sahara Desert in Morocco capture especially. 🙂

Oh my, this was a “wonder-full” post. Louis Armstrong’s song played in my head from the beginning to the end, and will probably continue long after. 🙂 ❤
