Rain-soaked purple clematis
We didn’t have to travel far to accept the challenge posed on Ailsa’s blog, Where’s My Backpack. In fact, it was a treat to combine our usual morning walk with this week’s rain theme and a reason to stop and look closely at flowers along the way.
From Southern magnolias in all their splendor . . .

to broad-leafed hosta catching raindrops . . .
Hosta leaves welcome the moisture
and sunny daisies seeking nourishment.

Rain-soaked purple clematis sporting royal color caught our eyes . . .

as well as the one lone hollyhock left in our garden. (Neighborhood rabbits dined on the rest!)

Almost spent, a magnolia holds onto its beauty for one more day.

Thanks for commenting! Somewhere I read that cloudy days are quite good for photography, and I’m beginning to believe. The photos don’t look so washed out. And the rain just adds to the ambience. Hope your weekend is a good one!

When I can’t travel, I look for things to photograph in the neighborhood. These were so pretty after a rain. So, I was excited when Ailsa announced Rain as her theme this week. Would prefer to be seeing cathedrals in Spain, but home is good, too! Best wishes for a great holiday weekend!
