Even bronze turtles have a textured shell with bumps and ridges and squarish shapes. Just like real turtles do. But if you’re a tortoise at the Knoxville Zoo where kids one right after another take turns riding you and posing for pictures and patting you good-bye, you’re not patterned at all. You’re smooth. Patternless, as it were. Yep. Smooth and loved.

Shiny shell forever.
Oh, the Places We See
There’s also a lion statue in the zoo that kids ride on. Same thing. Head and mane and back almost rubbed smooth. Love it!

Such a cute snap!
Oh, the Places We See
Thanks, Cindy. There were a couple of animals rubbed smooth by the kids over the years — it’s fun to see this because I know they love the animals they can sit on best!
