Weekly Photo Challenge: Symmetry

Some balloons at Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta 2014 were notable for their imitation of familiar characters, but others were notable merely for their symmetry and color.  As they floated skyward with little more sound than the click of camera shutters in the background, these peaceful, geometric balloons were simply poetry in motion.

You are so right — it was awesome, and the sight remains one of my best travel experiences. I want to go again, but this is probably a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks so much. I hope to create a few more posts since I have so many pictures. We just stood on the field in the midst of these great balloons taking picture after picture. It was a rush!!1

Such colourful symmetry. I’ve never flown in a hot air balloon, but I have been up in an anchored one. Not quite the same thing. 🙂

Even being in an anchored balloon would be fun, I should think. Everyone tells us it’s quiet and you can see forever! Thanks for sharing.

Glad you liked the hot air balloons. We did, too. And I’ll be posting some non-symmetrical ones later. All were great!

Appreciate the comment. Sometimes it’s easy to do these challenges; sometimes not. But when I looked for one balloon, several popped up! So fun to relive an event!

Good advice! It would be great to go up in a balloon, but fiesta weekend is complicated. Another time might be much better.

Lovely and cheerful! Have you flown in a hot air balloon before? I’ve been itching to go on a hot air balloon flight!

We’ve never flown in a hot air balloon, but wouldn’t that be fun! Best wishes on getting there. Thanks for responding!

You’ve read our minds. We even looked into riding in a hot air balloon, but we didn’t think of it ahead of time. I guess these things are booked way in advance. But what a treat to anticipate! Thanks for taking a look.

Thanks! I hope to write a couple of posts on that event and show some of the funny balloons, too. But these symmetrical ones and beautiful in and of themselves. Thanks for taking a look.

I have been working on a short list of places to potentially visit this year, and this was close to the top. I went several years ago, the weather did not cooperate, and the balloons didn’t leave the ground. I want to go back and see it all. 🙂

Thanks so much. I hope to do a series on this event maybe to encourage others to go this year. It was quite memorable.

Wonderful post. Your previous post on St. Augustine Light would also have been perfect for this challenge.

You are so right! I have a couple of photos of the windows — symmetry at its finest. Thanks for taking a look and writing a comment. Appreciate it!

It makes our day to hear from you.
