Weekly Photo Challenge: Twinkle

Opryland Hotel by night

The glittery, twinkly magic of the Gaylord Opryland Hotel delights thousands of visitors each December.  No matter how chill the night air, guests push open the doors of the Magnolia entrance of this Nashville, Tennessee, convention center and stroll down the tree-lit sidewalks.

Horse-drawn carriages await their guests at the fairyland entryway.  And then the clop-clop sound of the slow-paced steeds begins.

Inside, the glitter continues as long strands of tiny white lights lead all eyes upward to the glass ceiling and the magical atrium-turned-glitter-ball that lights the way through the rain forest paths.

It’s a truly amazing place isn’t it?! would love to see it during the holidays – looks to be quite special. And it’s pretty special even when it ISN’T holiday time! Lovely posts.

Tina, you are so right — it Is pretty even when it’s not Christmas. A rather special place to spend a weekend. Hope you are getting ready for the holidays no matter if you’re staying home or traveling. Get your camera ready — you always have great shots of wherever you are!

Thanks for that comment. You’ve nailed it — truly gorgeous. I saw this display several years ago, but when I heard the convention I was attending met there, I couldn’t wait to see it again. The website says there are over 2 million lights. Don’t doubt it at all!

Here’s hoping your trip to Hendersonville is a safe, happy one. We recommend seeing this hotel, but be aware that traffic is pretty bad. If you go one hour before the Rockettes perform (as we did), prepare to sit on the Interstate. But once you’re there — it’s twinkly and fun!!

You’re right, Amy. It is a tree sidewalk — a lighted one at that. So fun just to wander about and see what the decorators put together. Wish I could visit every year, but I hadn’t been in several seasons. It’s fun anytime I get there, though. Happy holidays!
