Good-bye suburbs. Hello city!

So I said to Bert, When is that Habitat Boutique Sale?  To which he replied, Right in the middle of the Dogwood Festival, April 13 and 14, downtown

Really? I said.  Now, wouldn’t it be fun to stay downtown? You could work at the sale, I could shop for crafty things that the artists bring, and we could walk back “home” at night!

Hey, you find us a place,  he said, and we’ll do it.

So I did.

And here we are.  A cool loft apartment in the 100 block of Gay Street smack dab in the middle of all things artsy with restaurants we wanna try, coffee shops, furniture, funky apparel, books, touristy stuff and sidewalks pointing us to other city places.   Livin’ the dream, I guess.  An opportunity to see how our urban dweller friends live and see if we suburbanites can get used to city noises and tiny, but efficient, spaces.

Knoxville’s been our home since ’63 when we both entered UT as freshmen, but we’ve never been this up close and personal with downtown !

So, here’s our chance.  Come along with us.  We’ll show you what we see . . . and eat and buy and do.

In our very own hometown. . . downtown!

Better watch out! We’ll make you one of our new “recruits!” Getting a pretty long list of suburban folks who tried downtown and then sold their house in the ‘burbs and moved here permanently, as we did! You are going to love it!

Welcome to the neighborhood. We love living downtown and hope you love it as much as we do.

What a great idea! Try it and see if you like it. I can see you two as city dwellers. Thanks for the blog. I will be a faithful follower. Nancy
