Travel theme: Wood

For this week’s Travel theme: Wood, we offer a glimpse into an ancient grove of Western Red cedars — some still standing sentinel-like and proud; others turned sideways as nature takes its toll.  DeVoto Cedar Grove — named for Bernard C. DeVoto, historian, author, and conservationist — is part of Clearwater National Forest, Idaho, accessible via Highway 12 on the Lewis & Clark Trail.  A quiet, humbling place where passers-by can celebrate the grandeur of wood.
