You’ve no doubt heard of the farm-to-table movement, one we embrace heartily especially in the summer. Produce stands and temporary farmers’ markets pop up in some of the most unlikely places like church parking lots, downtown squares, and temporary make-shift areas off the interstate.
As we were traveling to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, we spotted a small market in a little lean-to shed with fresh produce — watermelons, tomatoes, snap beans, and fresh Gramling Farms peaches.
For the Weekly Photo Challenge: Fresh, here are some Red Globe freestone peaches ready to eat right out of the sack or stirred into a rich, sweet cobbler.

There huge! Looks fresh and delicious.

They were delicious all right. We stopped on the way home and got more!

Slurrrppp…it’s very expensive here, as it cannot be grown in tropical countries…
Rusha Sams
Didn’t know that. We have an abundance of peaches in the summer, and we make preserves, cobblers, pies, etc. It’s lovely!

Ooo….I wish I get some hehehehe…

I just want to reach up and grab a handful of those yummy looking peaches. Nothing getting than eating a fresh peach and making peach cobblers.

I can’t say I’ve seen any peaches with prettier color than these! Gorgeous!

Wow, Rusha, those are FRESH! I can almost taste them based upon color alone. Great blog.
Rusha Sams
Thanks, Sharon! What I didn’t say but I meant to was that the gentleman in the picture told me he was from “up around Campbello.” And that’s how he pronounced it! guess that’s localese for Campobello. I love travel!!!
Amy

Aaaah, Pawleys Island? I read a book based in that town, from Dorothea Benton Frank and have added this town on my bucket list.I hope you will share some images of the island in future posts. Here is a link of the book I read if you are interested…..http://www.dotfrank.com/Book_Preview_Pawley.html

We come to Pawleys each summer, and I had thought of doing a series of posts after our trip last year. Maybe it will happen this year! It really is a neat place. Thanks for the comment and the link to the book.

I had the opportunity to met Dorothea Benton Frank at a writer’s luncheon in 2007 and got an autographed copy of her book, “Sullivans Island”, (where she was born and raised). She’s an interesting writer.

How wonderful to meet an author, especially someone so loved in this part of the world! Her books are everywhere in the indie bookstores and on the beach! Thanks for replying!
