Weekly Photo Challenge: Optimistic

If you’re in retail, you already know that it takes a certain amount of optimism just to stay in the game.  But add to that a cold December in New York City, a temporary tent, and goods that only big-city residents (not tourists) would carry home, and you have a renewed appreciation for those who remain optimistic enough to attempt selling goods outdoors in winter.

Anyone want fresh seafood from Long Island?

And someone was optimistic that a dog owner (of a big dog!!!) would want these bones.  Ya never know.  Put ’em out there.  Somebody’ll buy ’em.

And optimism extended all the way to Chinatown.  Who wouldn’t want chestnuts just so they can roast them on an open fire?

Whatever it takes to keep warm. Chestnuts are up there for sure! Love Chinatown in any city. Next time try find a dim sum spot! Yum, that will warm you up fast!

Peta, we would love to have a dim sum recommendation. I never know which restaurants are reputable and which are not. So send ’em on. Thanks for reading/commenting! I’m thinking we’ll be making a return trip.

Great photos for the challenge. I love roasted chestnuts. and the different colored pasta looks interesting.

Thanks for the compliment and for taking a look! We saw several vendors selling chestnuts — found out it’s a NYC tradition. (We love street food, by the way!)

We used have roast chestnuts in England too, especially on Guy Fawkes night November 5th. 😄

  3. Curt Mekemson says:

Had a Basset Hound once who absolutely loved big bones. For the first hour or two after I gave him one, he would just sit and growl over the bone. I never could figure out who he was growling at. Maybe he was daring the world to try and take it away from him. Then he would absolutely devastate the bone, and in a relatively short period of time. –Curt

I couldn’t believe those bones were just sitting on a table next to a sidewalk. Wonder if they’ve ever had a dog pull away from its owner and grab a bone right off the table!!!

These are great from your trip to NYC.

    • Oh, the Places We See says:

Thanks, Judy. We loved this trip. Hope someday to get back there. It was fun figuring out how to get to places we’d only read about. And, as you know, there are so many more in NYC!

    Sorry, typo… Rusha

Great take on the theme, Arusha!

  7. Amy says:

Love this array of optimism! Well done, Rusha!

    Wonderfully optimistic!

You bet! We were sort of shivering even though it was a mild December. But my feet would get quite cold standing all day on concrete! Thanks for taking a look!
