Getting away for a romantic weekend is an ideal way to make Valentine’s Day special. For some sunshine, warmth and a tropical feel, Tenerife holidays offer that and so much more.
February in most of Europe is often cold, wet and grey. Jetting off to Tenerife can give you a chance to warm up and focus on your partner. The island is great for creating memories and experiencing new things. Here are some things you should add to your Tenerife itinerary for a Valentine’s getaway.
Explore natural wonders hand in hand
Tenerife is home to some breathtaking natural beauty, so exploring it as a couple is an incredible experience.
Daytime hikes in Teide National Park are always a winner. Explore the volcanic landscape as you walk in the shadow of Mount Teide. Keep an eye out for indigenous plant species such as the Teide violet. At night, wrap up warm and head back to the mountain for some stargazing.
The Tenerife coast is just as beautiful as the inland, so taking a stroll along some coastal paths can make for some picture-worthy moments.
Romantic dining and cultural discoveries
Tenerife is home to some fantastic restaurants, each with an intimate and romantic atmosphere. Throw in some good food and your Valentine’s Day is sorted.
M.B Martin Berasategui is a Michelin-starred site, offering a fusion of Japanese and Basque cuisine. It is also known for its extensive wine menu to complement the fantastic flavours. If you want something a bit less formal, Mesón El Monasterio is situated in the grounds of a former monastery at the base of the volcano. The views are parallel to none, and the food is great, too!
After food, head to the Auditorio de Tenerife for a performance. You may be lucky enough to catch a performance of a Shakespeare play or a classical music concert.
Relaxing activities for couples
For some, holidays are about relaxing and taking it easy while enjoying each other’s company. Spa days are incredibly relaxing with plenty of treatments on offer. A couple’s massage is always a hit.
Whale watching is a good way of combining a special experience with something a bit slower paced. Setting sail in February gives you a good chance of seeing some of the fantastic marine life, including whales and dolphins that call the Tenerife seas their home.
Secluded coastal escapes and private charters
Some of the best resorts on the island can be busy, as can the attractions and beaches. If you are looking for an intimate escape, hire a private eco-friendly charter from Los Gigantes. Doing so allows you to experience some peace and quiet while taking in the island from a new perspective.
Keep an eye out for the iconic 600-metre-high cliffs and hidden turquoise coves that have inspired many over the years.
