Weekly Photo Challenge: Fleeting

Anyone who has been a parent or grandparent — or just a loving adult — knows how fleeting the first few days and weeks of a child’s life can be.  In looking over some pictures of my granddaughter’s first year of life, I found this shot of her just doing what comes naturally in life.  Enjoy!

They grow fast, sometimes too fast.

I have never had my own child, but feel this with my 17 year old stepson…like I can see the sand slipping through the hourglass as I watch him shed his boyhood traits and turn into a lovely young man! It’s truly an oxymoron! Cheer him on…but just stop becoming self sufficient so darned fast!

    • Rusha Sams says:

I think we all identify with cheering on another child other than our own. I was a teacher, so I know firsthand the joy of watching students mature during the course of a school year. It’s all fleeting, though!

    aren’t they just amazing?!

    • Rusha Sams says:

They really are! And I’m having more fun as a grandparent than I had as a parent! Just more relaxed, I guess!

I can only concur. I look back at my daughter’s pictures from the time she was a little baby and can only lament that time is passing by so quickly. I’m reminded of a song from a local Philippine singer entitled “No rewind No replay”:

First few days or weeks? How about the first few years? They all seem fleeting when graduation time rolls around!

    • Rusha Sams says:

I agree! She’s only four but I feel almost panicky about doing whatever I can whenever I can with her now. Little kid time goes by so fast!!!
