It was truly a respite for us — a getaway in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the medina. But you’d never know it once you got inside the walls of this riad. Oh, to return and see the colors, the exotic touches and yes, those tiles!

Rusha, I’ve always loved and admired the natural cooling effect that this type of architecture can produce. The folks that live all around the Mediterranean know a thing or two about how to keep cool, and the ambience inside one of these intimate, quiet, and shady spaces is absolutely fabulous. The first building I ever visited that had this type of courtyard was in Marbella, Spain, and I was hooked. BTW, don’t you look relaxed and at home in that last photo. Nice post. ~James

I have no idea why I haven’t responded to this post long ago, but I overlooked it somehow. Thanks for taking a look at one of the prettiest places we’ve ever stayed. And, yes, I was relaxed. Somehow, I feel more “away” than just in another country when I travel, and the relaxation is good for my mind and spirit! Great to have you in Morocco with us, if only for a moment!

Oh, how I wish we could have gone to Essaouira! I’ve seen pictures, mostly on Pinterest and Instagram, and the site is lovely. But we have a great trip to Morocco — colorful, interesting, friendly yet so different from what we have here in Tennessee. Don’t you love travel? It truly exposes you to cultures in a way that you can’t get from just looking at pictures. Thanks for taking a look. And maybe you can stay the night at Riad Les Yeux Bleus!

It was quite a surprise! We had to weave through the back side of the medina to get to it, and I wondered what kind of a place would be so tucked away. But when we got there, it was like coming upon an oasis — so beautiful, restful, peaceful, and colorful. Great food, too! Thanks for taking a look!
